The Louvre is the world's largest and second most visited museum located in Paris France. The Louvre gets around 9.2 million visitors a year. The Louvre opened on August 10, 1793 and is housed in the Louvre Palace. When The Louvre opened it had 537 paintings and were either royal property or confiscated church property. The museum today consists of more than 380,000 objects and 35,000 works of art.
