The Taj Mahal was completed in 1653 and it took 21 years to complete the building. The Taj Mahal is made out of ivory-white marble and it was built at a cost of an estimated $827 million. Shah Jahan had the Taj Mahal built as a mausoleum for his favorite wife. The building also houses a mosque and guest house. It is located in Agra, India and it gets between 7 and 8 million visitors a year.
